Into the Woods-Witch-beautiful 2_edited.

Born into a family of percussionists in the middle of Stillwater, Oklahoma, Bailey Bovenschen has been interested in the world of acting all her life, whether she was aware of it or not.

In her childhood, while getting ready for the day with her grandma, she often acted out scenes from The Wizard of Oz, giggling and laughing as she mimicked the cackling of the Wicked Witch of the West and the over-dramatics of the Cowardly Lion.

This love of character performing eventually led her to pursue performing, with a passion for bringing characters to life through music. Known for her expressive stage presence, Bailey’s performance credits include Prince Orlofsky (Die Fledermaus), Martha Watson (White Christmas), The Witch (Into the Woods), Head Snake (Children of Eden), Madam Armfeldt (A Little Night Music), La Vecchia/Zita (Gianni Schicchi), Madame Wardrobe (Beauty and the Beast), and Morticia Addams (The Addams Family).

In the summer of 2024, Bailey performed in Europe for the first time, attending the Wiener MusikSeminar in Vienna, Austria where she received second place for her performance of “Que fais-tu, blanche tourterelle?” Later that fall, Bailey competed in the Leopold Bellan Competition, receiving first place in the Comedié Musical division.

In the summer of 2023, Bailey worked as an intern for the Kristin Chenoweth Broadway Bootcamp, learning and working alongside stars such as Michael Orland, Kevin Chamberlin, Faith Prince, Elizabeth Teeter, and Kristin Chenoweth.

While attending Oklahoma State University, Bailey presented her Master’s lecture-recital titled, “How I Got Into His Pants Role: A Guide to Performing the Opera Trouser Role,” where she performed four famous pants role arias to highlight the struggles cis-gendered women face when portraying male characters. She also premiered “Dot’s Aria” from the upcoming opera by Dr. Brant Adams, Cricket on the Hearth.

While attending Oklahoma City University, Bailey explored pushing the boundaries of type casting and performed in a “miscast” cabaret where she performed as Prince Topher from Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Cinderella. She presented two Senior recitals as well, with one focusing on Classical techniques while the other focused on Musical Theatre techniques.

Bailey received her Bachelor’s of Music in Musical Theatre and Vocal Performance from Oklahoma City University (’22), graduating with honors. She studied under Larry Keller and coached with Chuck Koslowske. During her time at OCU, she discovered the world of voice acting along with her wonderful voice-over coach Michael Yurchak. She received her Master’s of Music in Vocal Performance and Pedagogy from Oklahoma State University (’25). She studied under April Golliver-Mohiuddin and Anné-Marie Condacse, and she coached under Megan Barth Argo.
